What Is This App?
User Manual Creator is a fun, free tool that helps you create a personalized "user manual" explaining how you work best. It's designed to make team collaboration easier by turning the awkward "how do I work with this person?" question into a shareable, beautifully designed document.
This is a passion project operated by Centercode. We built it because we think self-awareness and clear communication make work better for everyone.
What We Collect & Why
Account Info
Your email and name (from sign-in) so you can save and access your manual. We use Google and GitHub for authentication through Neon Auth — we receive your name, email, and profile picture from whichever service you choose. We never see your password.
Your Questionnaire Answers
Work hours, communication style, pet peeves, hobbies, etc. — everything you enter in the calibration forms. This is the heart of your manual.
Generated Content
The AI-written text that makes up your manual. We store this so you don't have to regenerate it.
Edit History
If you edit your manual, we keep previous versions so you can restore them if needed.
Local Storage
Before you create an account, your questionnaire progress is saved in your browser's localStorage so you can pick up where you left off. This data never leaves your device until you sign in.
What we DON'T collect: No advertising trackers, no third-party marketing cookies, and no interest in selling your information.
Cookies we DO use: Essential session cookies for authentication (so you stay logged in) and Vercel Analytics for anonymous, aggregated performance metrics. That's it — no creepy ad tracking.
How AI Uses Your Data
When you generate your manual, your questionnaire answers are sent to OpenAI's API to create the written content of your manual sections.
OpenAI processes this data according to their privacy policy. We use their API (not ChatGPT), which means your data is not used to train their models.
Where Your Data Lives
We believe in transparency about our infrastructure:

All services are based in the United States. If you're outside the US, your data crosses borders when you use this app.
Sharing Your Manual
Your manual gets a unique URL (like mymanual.me/m/your-name). By default, this is public — anyone with the link can view it.
You can make your manual private from your dashboard. Private manuals are only visible to you when logged in.
Your Rights & Controls
You're in control. Here's what you can do:
See all your data anytime in your dashboard
Update your answers or generated content whenever you want
Download your manual as a PDF (your data, your copy)
Remove your manual and account from your dashboard — we'll delete everything within 30 days

For Our International & California Friends
If you're in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional legal rights. But honestly? We extend these rights to everyone — good privacy shouldn't depend on your zip code.
🇪🇺 If You're in Europe (GDPR)
Why we process your data: We have a legal basis for everything we do with your information:
- Contract: We need your data to provide the service you signed up for (creating your manual)
- Consent: You chose to give us your questionnaire answers and can withdraw anytime
- Legitimate interest: Basic analytics to keep the app running well
Your extra rights: You can ask us to restrict processing, object to processing, or request your data in a portable format. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you think we've done something wrong.
Data transfers: Your data is processed in the US. We rely on standard contractual clauses to ensure your data is protected when it crosses borders.
🌴 If You're in California (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents have specific rights under the CCPA and CPRA. Here's your lineup:
- Right to Know: What personal info we collect and why (you're reading it!)
- Right to Delete: Request deletion of your data (use your dashboard or email us)
- Right to Correct: Fix inaccurate info (edit your manual anytime)
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We don't sell your data. Ever. So you're already opted out.
- No Discrimination: We won't treat you differently for exercising these rights
Categories we collect: Identifiers (name, email), internet activity (analytics), and content you create (your manual). We don't collect sensitive personal information as defined by CPRA.
How to Exercise These Rights
Email privacy@centercode.com. We'll respond within 30 days and may need to verify your identity — we'll keep it painless.
Data Retention
We keep your data as long as you have an account. When you delete your account or manual:
- Your data is marked for deletion immediately and becomes inaccessible
- We permanently remove it from our systems within 30 days (this gives you time to change your mind)
Security
We use industry-standard security practices: encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication through Neon Auth, and access-controlled databases. That said, no system is 100% secure. We do our best, but please don't put anything in your manual that would be catastrophic if exposed.
If something goes wrong: In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we'll notify you via email within 72 hours of discovering it, along with details about what happened and what we're doing about it.

What This Is
This is a free tool for creating personal "user manuals." It's meant to be fun and useful, but it's not professional advice of any kind.
Age Requirement
You must be 18 or older to use this app. It's designed for workplace professionals.
Be Kind
Don't use this to harass, impersonate others, or create offensive content. Don't try to break or abuse the service.
Your Content
You own what you create. We just need permission to store and display it (that's kind of the point).
No Guarantees
This is provided "as is." We hope it works great, but we can't guarantee uptime, and we're not liable if something goes wrong. Please don't rely on this for anything mission-critical.
Changes
We might update this app or these terms. If we make major changes to how we handle your data, we'll let you know via email.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of California, USA. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of California.
Our Promise: No Dark Patterns
We believe in ethical design. That means:
- ✓No tricks to keep you subscribed (there's nothing to subscribe to)
- ✓No guilt-tripping if you want to delete your account
- ✓No confusing settings to hide privacy options
- ✓No selling your data, period
- ✓No "free tier" that suddenly becomes paid (it's just free)
